Episode 16 - Ingmar should totally be a secretary

Hoping you kids are enjoying your year’s end holidays! Ingmar’s about to leave on a jet plane (thankfully we know when he’ll be back again) but we pre-recorded this little episode for you all to see you into 2010. See how considerate we are?

This episode we’re reviewing (someone else’s list of) the top 20 TV shows of the decade. Some of them we agree with, others we’re not so sure, and since it’s an American list, there’s a few we haven’t heard of before…

What were your favourite shows of the past decade?

Sorry for the late reply Andrew – hope you had a happy New Year! Ingmar will be back from skiing the slopes of Japan next, so we’ll have a new episode out not long after that, hopefully!

Of the 20 shows from the list I only watched two – The Sopranos & The Office (I must have spent the last decade watching all of the trash!) The US version of The Office is actually quite good – and that is despite me not liking Steve Carell. Most of the humour in the show lies with the interactions of the supporting characters.

My favourite show for the last two years has been Flight Of The Conchords. Summer Heights High, Kath & Kim and Hollowmen would also make my top ten for the decade.

Oz and Six Feet Under would be high up on my list – I am surprised that they did not make the cut for your top 20 list.

But the naughties would have to be remembered for the reality show genre. I am still a huge fans of shows like Survivor and The Apprentice. And I would be a complete and utter fraud if I did not make mention Big Brother.

Did I just reveal that I liked Big Brother? Is there anyway that I can delete comments – or is that embarrassing fact on the interweb for all eternity? :P

Hahahaha, don’t worry Andrew #2, I’m still a total Survivor addict, and CANNOT wait for Big Brother to return this year!!!!!!!!

    *Billy rolls his eyes*

Thanks for listening and happy New Year!

Howdy kids, yep it’s taken me a while to get around to this episode, have been away. But thanks for making it and hope y’all have had a great holiday break.

Love “Weeds”, which most people who know me find weird given my stance on drugs (yes I’m a goody two shoes). I really love the character interaction and find the show quite funny.

“Freaks and Geeks” I couldn’t get into. It was OK but nothing to write home about.

“30 Rock”, what to say? It really is one of the best shows ever. I had to make David watch the first 5 episodes before he really got into it. I think the characters need time to grow on you, but once they do, bam, your addicted. They have had a few dodge episodes, but then what show hasn’t. I also disagree with Ingmar, Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon is an awesome character.

“Madmen” meh watched a few but didn’t much like it.

Didn’t get into Buffy, but LOVE “Dollhouse”, but I think it is only getting good because they have to end it and wrap stuff up. If it were like this the whole way through it would have a lot more fans.

“Battlestar Galactica” is THE best show for the last decade, except for the crap God ending. The last episode almost destroyed it for me.

I do love “Stargate” all of them (now even “Stargate Universe”).

“Lost” like so many other shows (“Heroes”, “Desperate Housewives” and so many others) all suffered from that damn writers’ strike. So many of them reeling trying to recover in the shortened seasons they had. But “Lost” is fine and unlike Heroes the creators have always said that the whole story line is mapped out (for the most part).

Oh “Damages” yeah that could have been on the list. But the way season 2 ended (the very last episode) was a bit dodge, not saying too much but they neatly wrap everything up in the one ep like they ran out of time. Season 3 is about to start in the US.

Other shows I might have on my list “House M.D.”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “The I.T. Crowd” and “Doctor Who”. All great shows I’ve wasted so many hours of my life watching.

Thanks for putting your show together, it has been a great source of entertainment while I get through my working day.

Awww, you’re totally welcome Tyroga! Thanks for listening. I know I should probably give 30 Rock more of a chance because everyone keeps saying how good it is. At the moment I’m trying to get into the first season of The Wire, which is proving difficult because the plot is quite convoluted and there are so many characters……….I totally agree with you on Damages season 2, it ended way too suddenly!
